Happy 2026! We wish for your health and happiness during the year! We look forward to assisting you with your 2025 tax filing.

The IRS announced Jan. 26, 2026, as the start to 2026 (2025 tax year) tax filing season. The agency continues historic improvements to expand, enhance tools and filing options to help taxpayers. Please contact us as soon as possible about your tax planning needs.

Remember the 2025 tax year filing deadline for individuals and C-Corps is Wednesday, April 15, 2026. If you must file later, please let us know asap and we will file an extension for you prior to that date. For those who need to file for an S-Corp, Partnership, etc. those returns are due by March 16th as the Schedule Ks from those businesses must be submitted to the shareholders and or partners by the end of March. This is required so they can file their personal taxes. We encourage all businesses to file using your data and records of revenues and expenses.

Remember to check your mail, email, or online accounts often for those pesky tax documents. When in doubt, retain all documents even if they do not say “for tax purpose” on the envelope and include them with your packet. If you do not receive your W2s and or 1099s by February 15th, contact your employer(s) or anyone you worked for during 2025. Additionally, those in the gig economy and work for Uber, Lyft, etc. and or sell products and services via a third-party should note that they may not receive a 1099K or be subject to back-up withholding, if the gross amount is under $5K. Yet the IRS warns that those taxpayers must file their returns. As with all businesses, we encourage you to file using your own data and records of revenues and expenses.

Other things to note: Beware of scams when preparing to file your taxes! If you were a victim of tax fraud you would need an Identity Protection Pin
Identity Protection PIN: An identity protection PIN is a six-digit number that prevents someone else from filing a tax return using a taxpayer’s Social Security number or individual taxpayer identification number.

This year, several new tax law provisions of the One, Big, Beautiful Bill (OBB) passed by Congress in July 2025 have become effective these provisions could impact (increase or decrease) federal taxes, credits, and deductions. Some deductions could reduce taxable income and increase refunds. The legislation includes four prominent provisions for individuals: the “deduction for seniors,” “no tax on tips,” “no tax on overtime” and “no tax on car loan interest.” Additionally, some taxpayers may benefit from contributions even if they cannot itemize their deductions.

Please note that if you owe taxes penalties and accumulated interests are added to your account at the beginning of the tax year to which they apply. Please submit your data as soon as possible to avoid additional penalties and interest for late filing and payment if your 2025 filing results in taxes due. If you did not file for past years, those penalties and interests are added. Additionally, if you may owe taxes for 2025, and if you believe your income will increase for 2026, we can help mitigate the risk of owing in the future, with a tax planning analysis and by preparing a suggested W4, for you to submit to your employer.
