The profile of Dr. Stephenson in the October 2020 issue of INSIGHT into Diversity (pg. 45) honors her work as a new Faculty at Georgia College and State University who has used her position and encouraged those around her to see themselves as powerful, not as the “other.” Dr.Stephenson’s initiative for helping improve diversity and underrepresented faculty in higher education is emblematic of her mantra, “together there is an ‘us’ with the power to solve problems and move forward… “The more of “us” there are, the more opportunities there are to effectuate positive changes in society.” It is with this goal in mind that Dr. Stephenson founded HELP initiative to mentor minority doctoral students to help them achieve their goals of earning a Ph.D.
